Ken Enochs is an American with 13 years experience teaching in ICU's English Language Program (ELP). He especially enjoys teaching a course on Adventure Travel, drawing on his experiences of travelling, working, and adventuring in over 40 overseas countries.

This lecture will focus on how you can best take advantage of your
university life to become the successful and satisfied adult that you want to be. The three main parts of the presentation will be about 1) having the right attitude,

2) defining the term "university education,"

and 3) following certain research-based advice on what makes students satisfied with their university experience.

Hello, I am Atsuko Watanabe. I have been teaching at the English Program at ICU since 1996. I really enjoy teaching ICU students.

I received B.A. from the Department of Psychology, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and M.A. in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Teachers College, Columbia University. My research interest is reflective practice, a way of developing oneself from self reflection.

Do you find English difficult to understand? What do you think makes it difficult? Have you analyzed the difficulties that you have? Is it words that you do not know? Is it some sentence structures?

In this model lesson, you will try various activities using your guesses, imagination, and inspiration. Through these activities, you will find a secret to understanding English.

The model lesson will be in English, but you do not have to be good at English to participate.
